Marriage License Application Process

Applications are not accepted after 3:30p.m. in order to allow sufficient time for the application process.

Upon completion of online application, the following instructions apply:
Applicants MUST comply with 1 through 5 listed below.
- Both Parties MUST appear at the same time.
- Applicants under the age of 18 must have consenting parent(s) present. If consenting parent(s) is divorced, please have court documentation to verify custodial rights.
- Identification is required of ALL parties: Government-issued photo ID (Driver's License; passport)
- Previously married applicants must provide the date their last marriage ended (either by death or divorce). Divorced individuals may not apply until their divorce has been finalized for 30 days.
- Costs: $51.00 CASH OR CREDIT CARD
The license is valid for 30 days from the date of issuance and may be used anywhere within the State of Missouri except for the City of St. Louis.
Officiator must complete the marriage license and return it to the Recorder's Office within 15 days after the wedding.
If a marriage license is unused, it must be returned to the office per RSMo 451.130.
ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTATION AVAILABLE FOLLOWING RECORDED MARRIAGE LICENSE:
Certified Copy of Marriage License – $9.00
(The above document may be purchased at the time of application. Said document(s) will be mailed to applicants after the marriage license is returned and recorded in the Lincoln County Recorder of Deeds Office). The certified copy is the same as the original. It can be used for name change and social security.
