School Resource Officers

The School Resource Officer (SRO) is an experienced law enforcement officer assigned to a school, serving not only as a law enforcement presence on campus but also as a mentor and educator. All SROs are certified by the State of Missouri, having completed specialized training to ensure they are fully equipped for their roles.
The SRO is a valuable resource for students, staff, and parents. In addition to enforcing the law both on and off school grounds, the SRO investigates crimes, writes reports, makes arrests, and issues juvenile referrals. The SRO works closely with school staff, engages with students, and serves as a liaison between the school and other law enforcement agencies. They also offer guidance and consultation to parents in areas of law enforcement expertise.
The School Resource Officer program is led by Lieutenant Amy Tippett, who is based at New Horizons High School in Troy. You can reach Lt. Tippett at atippett@lcsomo.gov.
