Instructions for Reporting:

  • Ensure Safety: If at any point the situation escalates to an emergency, call 911 immediately.
  • Provide Details: When submitting your report, include as much detail as possible to assist the deputies in their follow-up.
  • Follow Up: A deputy will contact you via phone to discuss the report and provide further assistance as needed.
  • Documentation: Keep any relevant documents or evidence handy for the follow-up call.

Non-Emergency Situations:

Past Thefts (No Evidence Collection Required):

  • Items were stolen but there is no suspect information.
  • Theft of property that does not require immediate investigation or evidence collection.
  • Lost property reports.

Vandalism (Not in Progress):

  • Property damage that occurred earlier and there is no ongoing threat or immediate need for evidence collection.
  • Graffiti that has already dried and does not pose any immediate danger.

Minor Traffic Incidents:

  • Minor accidents where no one is injured, and both parties have exchanged information.
  • Hit-and-run incidents with no immediate threat and no serious injuries.

Harassment (Non-Threatening):

  • Repeated unwanted contact (calls, messages) that is not currently happening and does not pose an immediate danger.
  • Non-threatening verbal disputes between neighbors or acquaintances.

Noise Complaints:

  • Loud parties or music that is not ongoing.
  • Regular neighborhood noise disturbances that are not occurring at the time of the report.

Lost and Found:

  • Reporting lost items that do not require immediate attention.
  • Found property that needs to be reported but does not require immediate collection by deputies.

Animal Complaints:

  • Non-aggressive animals at large.
  • Reporting a stray animal that is not posing a threat to public safety.

Fraud and Identity Theft:

  • Cases of fraud or identity theft where no immediate action is required, and the suspect is not known.
  • Unauthorized credit card use that has already been reported to the bank.

Suspicious Activity (Not in Progress):

  • Suspicious persons or vehicles observed earlier with no ongoing threat.
  • Past suspicious behavior that does not require immediate investigation.

Civil Matters:

  • Disputes over property lines, child custody exchanges (without immediate confrontation).
  • Landlord-tenant disputes that do not involve violence or threats.
  • Lost/Not delivered packages.
